Vancouver born trumpeter James Ross has been a member of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in New York since 1995 and held the positions of 2nd Trumpet of the New York Philharmonic, Associate Principal of the Seattle Symphony, Principal Trumpet of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet Orchestra.
James has performed as substitute Principal Trumpet with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, American Symphony Orchestra, St. Luke’s Chamber Orchestra, the Mito Chamber Orchestra and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
Also James has performed under the baton of some of the world’s leading conductors, including: James Levine, Lorin Mazel, Zubin Mehta, Seiji Ozawa, Valery Gergieve and Yannick Netzun Seguin.
An active musician on the New York recording scene, James has many major motion picture scores, video game soundtracks and jingles to his credit. James studied with Thomas Parriott, Vincent Cichowicz, Susan Slaughter and Arnold Jacobs.
James is a Yamaha Artist, performing on their instruments exclusively.
